I love these posters, but damn, someone take photoshop away from whoever did these.

Part of the reason I love my older men is the little crinkles and laugh lines. THEY'RE NOT PORCELAIN DOLLS, PEOPLE!

Shame

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] oohasparklie, I totally thought of you when I saw this pic:

(click for bigger Fassbender and Dale)

So with all the reviews of Shame coming out of the Venice Film Festival I don't think I've been this excited for a movie in a really long time (except Avengers, SH2 and The Hobbit). All the reviews are saying how fantastic Michael Fassbender is and Carey Mulligan and I couldn't be more happy. At first it was excitement to see Fassy 100% naked (apparently he walks around completely naked for the first 10 minutes of the film) and just a new film of his, but as of right now I don't care. Well, I do care, but that's not really what I mean. I've read the Shame script that leaked and I just cannot wait to see Fassy and Carey's performances in the flesh. Just seeing him in Hunger punched a hole right through my chest from his acting and subject matter, and that doesn't happen very often. McQueen and Fassy will leave me a sobbing, raw mess, I am sure. Yes I may be over the edge of insanity in regards to this man right now, but when I first took notice of him when [livejournal.com profile] oohasparklie did all her awesome posts of him and started to slowly watch his work, I knew he has something that not many actors have. I'm so excited; for the movie, for his performance, and just for him.

Honestly I haven't been hit this hard with obsession over an actor since Orlando, I believe.

And now I sound like some psycho stalker so I'll shut up now.

I was hoping to finally see Harry Potter: DH2 tonight, but sadly my plans were shattered into a million tiny little shards of.... IDK, I'll just copy what I wrote on my Tumblr. :P

So the showing of HP:DH2 I wanted to see was sold out and it’s the only 2D version that seems to be playing in my area.

Yesterday I received my class schedule for school and honestly I'm torn between excitement and feeling like I want to throw up because of nerves. It's kinda weird because some days I'll have things end at about 4pm and then other days not until about 6-6:30; I guess I assumed it would be a standard 9-5 kind of thing, but either way I'm not worried about it. The first day I have to attend a University lecture/welcome about general campus things and then in the afternoon I get my orientation of the program and my new Nikon digital camera. >:D

I also discovered that I am allowed $500 tax credit or chunk of my loan or something of that sort towards computer equipment and software for school. I was actually thinking of possibly getting a netbook for class. First years don't get their own Mac's, so we all have to share the ones that are in the classroom. There'll be about 30 of us and only about 8 computers. I'm figuring it could be beneficial to getting things done quicker. I'd take the laptop I have now, but it's over 18.4" inches wide, heavy and isn't the most portable thing (plus I wouldn't have room on my desk). Does anyone own a netbook or know someone who does? How do you/they find them? I'm also glad to find out about the $500 because in Second Year you have to buy Photoshop with your own money. Bleh. I'd just rip the one I have but a) it's not the Mac version and b) I could get kicked out if I use a pirated one. Don't want to risk that.

Tuesday mum and I went to see Cowboys & Aliens. I barely knew the overall story and didn't read the graphic novel, but I knew that Fav was directing and the Spielberg was involved as well. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I felt there was something missing. Sam Rockwell was severely underused in this and I was disappointed there wasn't more of him. Daniel Craig's ass in those leather chaps were a thing of beauty though. LOL

So I'm completely obsessed with Michael Fassbender and his smoking. It's like some kind of porn in and of itself to me. Honestly, how can he make such a crap habit so sexy? IDK.

Today I went to register at the university for readmission. I had to before the 31st for the fall term, so now I can work on assembling my portfolio. I have to hand it in at the end of April, so I'm ok time wise, but I am already having nightmares about it all. The other night I had a dream that I submitted my old portfolio for some reason and after realizing this I had to search for it in my old elementary school (???). I don't know how it turned out, but I doubt that something like that will happen. I also have to get two letters of reference for my application and I've never had to do that before so I am a bit nervous about it. I don't really know who to ask; the list gave an example of using a teach or mentor, but I don't really have that. The teachers I had over the summer program also teach in the 3 year program that this is all for, so I don't know if they're even allowed to write a letter of reference. I'll have to think hard *sits on log like Pooh Bear*.

I have also fallen in love with the movie Tangled. I think that this is now in my top five fave Disney movies (excluding Pixar). I knew it would be enjoyable but I had no idea I'd love it so much. I want to be a long lost princess and find a hunky guy to marry. DISNEY, WHY YOU MAKE RL SEEM SO HORRIBLE IN COMPARISON?

Last night I finished reading The Hunger Games. I was hesitant to pick it up at first because all the YA stuff out there right now is just vampires and werewolves, but this was surprisingly refreshing. I enjoyed the darker edge to it and the heroine not all love struck and fawning over some guy where she can't have a relationship with. I think I may start reading the next book tonight.

Showtime!

Comment with “SHOWTIME!” and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your Livejournal with your favourite films of theirs.

[livejournal.com profile] elvensapphire gave me these:

1. RDJ, but with a caveat - you're not allowed to say Sherlock Holmes or Iron Man. *is ev0l* .... I CANNOT SAY!!!! Actually, yes, I can. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, because it cracks me up every single time. A very close second is Chaplin because that is some of the best acting I have ever seen.
2. Tom Cruise - Erm. Um.... I'm thinking Tropic Thunder because he was so over the top and funny during that. I honestly couldn't believe it was him the first time I saw it. Interview with the Vampire would be a close second.
3. George Clooney - Oddly I really haven't see many of his films, but the one that I think I enjoyed the most on a performance level from him is O Brother, Where Art Thou?.
4. Will Smith - Enemy of the State
5. Christian Bale - I'M THE GODDAMM BATMAN! This is hard because I really do enjoy a lot of his films. American Psycho is a great one, but I think I'll have to go for Batman Begins because he really made a Bruce Wayne/Batman for a whole new (and older) generation.
6. Sean Connery - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade will never not be my favourite of his. My family have been quoting him from that movie for years.
7. Gary Oldman - The Dark Knight because he was so awesome as Commissioner Gordon in this film.
8. Fred Astaire - *hangs head in shame* I have only ever see one of his movies, so by default it is Funny Face
9. Daniel Day Lewis - Gangs of New York in which he totally stole the show from everyone.
10. Johnny Depp (I feel like giving Johnny to everyone? *fangirl*) - POTC, the first one, because I will never forget seeing him for the first time as Captain Jack Sparrow. That in and of itself is something to remember.

1. Cate Blanchett - LOTR... dur.
2. Angelina Jolie - Taking Lives
3. Audrey Hepburn - Breakfast at Tiffany's followed closely by Roman Holiday
4. Nicole Kidman - Practical Magic
5. Winona Ryder - Little Women one of my favourite movies during the holidays.
6. Claire Danes - Stardust because I luffs that movie so, so much
7. Michelle Pfeiffer - Stardust see above. :D
8. Kirsten Dunst - Interview with the Vampire
9. Ingrid Bergman - I am too embarrassed to answer this question.
10. Catherine Zeta-Jones - No Reservations
bunnylove: (Dragon - Toothless <3)
I'm kinda bummed because today dad told me that the only two nights that we're staying in Las Vegas are the two nights that the show 'Love' won't be showing. :( That's the only show I wanted to see in Vegas, but it looks like it's not going to happen. He said his friend is going to look into an Elvish show, but meh. I like Elvis, but I wanted the Fab Four. Oh, well, such is life and I know I'll still have fun. I'll try and see if I can get him to look into a different Cirque show, that would be fun.

Yesterday after visiting my grandma, mum and I went to see How To Train Your Dragon. It was showing in IMAX 3D so even with the movie passes we had we still had to shell out $5 extra per ticket. >.< ANYWAY! I absolutely adored it and thought it was awesome. The animation was spectacular and the 3D was great. I'm not that into 3D, but I think for this kind of movie it works best.

I swear to God that I think the movie people secretly came into my house and filmed Tinkerbell. She is Toothless (the dragon). She does everything that he does, has green eyes and is black. Even when he wakes up Hiccup that is exactly what she does to me. My cat is a dragon. O.O

Today I completely cleaned out the BBQ. It's been since last summer and it deseperately needed it. Now we can start using it whenever. :)

Yesterday I also had to go over to Petsmart to feed the kitties ect. and I spent almost 4 and a half hours with them. It's hard sometimes, because you can't have them out of their cages together, you have to do it one by one (to prevent any sickness/injuries), so while I have one out the other is looking pathetic and then you switch and let the other out and the one you put back looks pathetic and meows. It's a vicious circle and makes me feel guilty. Stupid cats, they have us all under their control.

The Gods have smiled upon me! The theatre that I have gift cards to will be showing Repo Men. I was worried because if it wasn't I would have to sucker my dad into taking me, now I can see it whenever!!! Seriously, movies are now almost $11 here ($14 for 3D o.O), it's freaking crazy.

I'm actually quite proud of myself in regards to the Oscars this year. I've seen 7 out of the 10 nominated films (I haven't seen District 9, A Single Man and Precious) so I kinda know what the hell is going on. Usually each year I see maybe 2 or 3 of the films nominated or what actors or nominated for, so I'm not too invested in it. I love the Oscars or maybe more of the idea of the Oscars. The shows themselves are long and boring, but I love seeing all the pretty people and dresses. I try to live through them because I have no life. LOL Plus it's always awesome to see your favourite celeb there and then squee.

Also, for you RDJ/Iron Man fans, Jimmy Kimmel will air the new IM2 trailer after the Oscars (he's also interviewing RDJ). I cannot wait.

I pimped out my room a bit today. My walls have been totally bare and I felt like I needed something more 'me'. I bought a Sherlock Holmes poster off of eBay super cheap and although it still hasn't come yet, until then I have this to tied me over:

I got that poster out of a movie magazine that the theatre gives away for free. On the flip side there's articles and pictures from the movie/set. I thought I'd be badass and put in the corner as well. \o/

a couple of other random photos of my room )

I started reading the first Percy Jackson book last night. The library must have gotten a few new copies because I just put it on hold three weeks ago and I was 8th in line. Anyway, I am enjoying it so far (only about 100 pages in). It's definitely a YA novel so I can probably finish it tonight or tomorrow.

Mum made cupcakes today. I helped make the icing and I got the honour of putting the sprinkles on. Sprinkles rock.

OMG I'm watching Zach Galifianakis host SNL and he is fucking hilarious. And Jude Law next week, yum. I'm hoping that RDJ will make a surprise appearance, but I won't hold my breath.

My brain literally shut down for 20 minutes and I couldn't remember how to post anything.

Yeah, it's that bad.

First on the agenda: [livejournal.com profile] hideincarnate, I received your post card today! Thank you very much, I love it and is currently up with all my other Christmas cards. <3

2. Last night my dad took me to see Avatar in 3D. Absolutely a gorgeous and stunning film. I couldn't get over the visual aspect of this movie, it was beautiful. You could still tell what was CG and what was real, but the way technology is going I'm sure we soon won't be able to tell as much. minor spoilers )

3. Mum has scarlet fever. Since she had her dental surgery 3 weeks ago and getting a cold she somehow got scarlet fever. How the hell that happened I don't know, but anyway she's feeling pretty shitty and I've been taking care of her as best I can. She's on antibiotics, so she should get better soon.

4. So, as my last post said I am going to Las Vegas for my birthday. Yesterday while I was with dad he told me that a bunch of his co-workers had the same week off in June that he has; one of the co-workers sisters had told her about this insanely cheap package to Las Vegas which included air and hotel. The co-worker mentioned it to my dad and some of the others and everyone thought that it would be fun to go down there and see the show 'Love'. The dates just happen to co-inside with my (or around) my birthday (the week will be between June 12th - 18th, my birthday is the 15th), so dad thought it would be a treat for me to come with and have a good time. He said I needed a break and he needed a break, so he's paying for all my travel, hotel and meals, the only thing he asked is that I save up for spending money. It's also my birthday present for the year which I am 100% fine with. It'll only be a 3 day trip, but since I haven't really been anywhere in so long and just gotten away from everything I don't care. Of course if I win the lotto then I'll extend the trip and then go to Europe afterwards.

When he told me this yesterday I told him he better not be bullshitting otherwise I'd have to hurt him.

Also, filling out a passport application is like trying to apply to run the country. I also need to find my birth certificate, but where it is is anyone's guess. Hopefully it'll turn up, I don't want to pay $27 to get another one sent to me. The passport is already going to cost me $87. I went through all my important papers hoping it would be there and I found the left over American cash I had from New York, so I already have $44 US saved. :)

5. Yes, it is true, Sherlock Holmes has now eaten my brain. I cannot wait to see it again and again and... well, you get the idea. This is how bad it's gotten: yesterday after a doctors appointment I walked passed the video store (or DVD rental... whatever) and I always like to go in to look around. Anyway, they always have previously viewed movies on for dirt cheap and I happened to find The Soloist and Zodiac for dirt cheap. *hangs head* I've hid them from my mum for now because otherwise she'll cotton on and start making fun of me (in a good way).

Stupid Robert Downey Jr. Stupid Jude Law.

Stupid new movie that I love making me plunge headlong into another fandom, ripping money from my unemployed hands (actually, I have a bunch of movie certificates saved up from Christmas and birthday, so I can see the movie at least 10 more times without having to actually pay. \o/ Although I don't think mum would appreciate that when we want to see something different.)

Doctor Who: The End of Time (pt 1 and 2) )

New Years was kind of a wash. Mum and I were supposed to go to dinner and go see Sherlock Holmes, but mum is sick and she was too sick to go out. I was kinda bummed, but I didn't want her to go out when she was so obviously feeling horrible. We're going to go see it on Tuesday, hopefully.

Yesterday I did go see Up In The Air with my dad and a friend of the family. I really enjoyed the movie and think it's definitely one of the better ones I've seen lately. Afterwards we went to an Italian restaurant where we had some of the best pasta ever. It was delicious and I want to go back right now. Tomorrow I am going to go see Avatar with dad as well. Unfortunately he has to work tomorrow, so the showing that fits with him getting off work isn't in 3D. I want to see it in 3D, but will probably have to wait for that.

Now to make my own pasta for dinner!

Any Merlin fans know if this week there was a new episode? I've been looking for a torrent for it, but no luck yet.

Dad took me to see Zombieland last night. Two words )

Thursday afternoon mum and I went out to Deep Cove for lunch after signing the lease to our new place. It was a pretty nice day (the past two have been monsoons) and I took some pictures. I also met a Bernese Mountain puppy and her name was Bonnie. <3

I stitched together about 6 photos of the cove.

That night mum and I also had a stalker. Mittens was sitting on the table just outside our living room window. He lives upstairs and is the one who beats up Tinkerbell and fights with Moe. He's not the nicest kitty, but he's cute to look at. He sat there for a good 20 minutes or more and watched us watch The Mentalist. I think he likes it.

Rest in peace, Patrick Swayze. You fought a good fight and I hope you're in a better place.

My darling, lovely, beautiful [livejournal.com profile] elvensapphire, I got the DVD today and I totally bawled when I opened it. I blame my hormones for that, but never the less thank you very, very much. *MUAH*

And now for some arm porn a la Chris Pine from his upcoming movie Carriers: Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh )

[livejournal.com profile] farahdoodles posted this movie trailer in her journal earlier today and I think it looks awesome. I really like the concept of the human race turned completely into vampires.
