It's snowing!

I always turn into Lorelai Gilmore when this happens. :P

Soooooo.... The news just announced that Vancouver has had its warmest January on record.

The Winter Olympics will be here in 11 days. They're driving trucks full of snow up to the local mountains to make sure there's enough for the skiing and other events that need it.

Um... oops? The Olympics should have come here last year, we had more snow than we knew what to do with. :P

Snow!

It's snowing out and so pretty! I'm really feeling Christmas-y today because of it. I think I'll wrap the couple of presents I have for mum and dad and put on some Christmas movies.

I have successfully upgraded my computer to Windows 7. Thank you all who gave info/suggestions in my post about it. So far everything went well and no problems. I'm loving the taskbar and the snap feature, that will help wonderfully. I haven't really looked into what else is different, but if it's better than Vista then great.

Mmmm.

It smells like snow outside. I wish I could bottle it and keep it with me all year.
bunnylove: (GG - Snow <3)
I have been a Vancouverite from birth. I lived here since my birth as well. Never in my 24 years have I seen it snow this much for this long here. It is snowing again and it brings the snow up to about three feet in our yard, some places four feet. I love snow, I love the way it looks and I love the way it dances in the air coming down. When I was a kid thinking of all this snow would be heaven, now that I'm adult it's a pain in the ass and when you have to be at work on a daily basis it's annoying. *looks out window* IT'S SNOWING SIDEWAYS, HOLY CRAP! O.O I spent an hour and a half outside chipping away ice and shovelling snow today. My hands hurt.

I'm watching Gilmore Girls again. This'll be the third time I've watched season one in about a year. Honestly, when I start watching this show I cannot stop. I just want to crawl into Stars Hollow and live there. I want the quirky townsfolk, the local diner with the grumpy owner, the quite life of a small town. I want a simpler, happier life. TV, stop making my real life seem like a depressing, horror show. :P

I'm going to go make muffins now.

Boxing Day

Dec. 26th, 2008 03:11 pm

Happy Boxing Day to all those who have it! It's snowing sideways right now. Honestly, this snow is just unbelievable. Never have I seen snow like this before here, if it doesn't stop then I'm sure my mum and I will be living in a igloo soon.

I'm glad that it seems that everyone had a nice Christmas. You all deserve it.

I don't want to say that my Christmas was bad, but it wasn't great either. The power went out the night before and my mum and I were going to pack all the food up and go over to my dad's so we could cook and have Christmas there, but then the power came back on, so we were able to cook here. My dad got stuck in the snow trying to get to our place instead and by the time everyone was in and settled we didn't get our breakfast until about 1pm. Then we opened presents and all that. I got some nice things from my mum and dad (although I know my mum was only able to afford a little bag of chocolates for me). I got a few books: Merle's Door by Ted Kerasote, Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann and The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. I also got some DVD's: The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray and Tropic Thunder. My main gift was a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. Yay! There's no way anyone in my family can afford an Intuos tablet, so I will happily take this one. I tried it last night and it's weird at first, but so far so good. I need to practice more on it before I am totally comfortable in writing/drawing/colouring/whatever. Mum and I still need to go down to my Aunts and exchange presents with them, so I'll be getting a few things more, but overall I'm satisfied.

The rest of the day we just watched movies and stuff. My dad... my dad was ok at first when he showed up, but then his mood soured and he just kinda put a damper on everyone. He's been going through a rough time lately, which we can understand, but he has to drag everyone down with him and act like a baby when he doesn't get his way. He got all pissy when he didn't see dinner being started by about 6 pm. Well then he could start it, mum and I weren't even hungry. He was supposed to go to a family friends for dinner, but he cancelled because he thought that mum and I would need a place to stay for the day since our power was out. That was nice of him to consider us, but you know what? He could have easily gone to his friends for dinner since our power came back on, but instead he decided to sulk and make mum and I unhappy because he didn't get his way or we didn't pack up and go to his place for dinner. By the time he left mum and I just felt so much lighter and we just went back inside to watch another movie.

Ahhh, family. What holiday wouldn't be complete with some sort of drama?

There were nice moments to the day and overall we had a nice time, I just felt emotionally exhausted by the end of the day.

Now we're just going to watch TV and watch the sideways snow outside. It's a freaking blizzard again. o.O
bunnylove: (Default)
I just measured the snow outside of our sun room sliding door... 48 cm(about 19 inches). And it's still snowing, it's seriously a blizzard outside. Awesome! Sucks if you have to go out in it, but from where I'm sitting it's gorgeous. I haven't seen this much snow here in... well ever (that I can remember).

I took these about two hours ago:

I am a bit bummed because we were supposed to go to my dad's for Christmas Eve dinner, but there's no way mum and I can drive in it. We're seeing him tomorrow morning anyway, so it's not a terrible thing missing dinner. I'm more bummed that we miss out on the roast we were supposed to have.

I'm watching A Muppets Christmas Carol, best Christmas movie evar!

So much snow it's incredible and beautiful at the same time. And guess what? WE'RE SUPPOSED TO GET MORE SNOW! They're saying another 5-10 cm's tonight/tomorrow and then maybe another 5 tomorrow night/Thursday. It's definitely going to be a white Christmas, which is rare around here. :)

My mum and I are not going to be going to my aunts for Christmas dinner because of all this snow. We don't have winter tires or four wheel drive on our car and it's just too far of a drive in this kind of weather. Plus it's too hard to get my grandma out of the hospital long term care and taxied over in her wheel chair. It's kinda sad, but on the other hand mum and I just get to schmoose around all day and not have to worry about getting dressed, making it to dinner ect. The selfish side of me wants my presents right now, but we'll get them. We're definitely going to be doing the dinner/presents once the weather gets a bit better.

I think mum is relieved, because she can afford absolutely nothing and she feels horrible about it. I keep telling her twenty times a day I don't care and really I don't, but she feels bad all the same.

Tomorrow we're having dinner at my dads and then Thursday morning he's going to come to our place to open the presents he got us and I got him.

SPN

It looks as if one of my Wishes will come true! There's supposedly going to be a SPN convention in August!!!! I sure as hell am going and I hope that it won't be too pricey (but known Creation it will be, bastards). Anyway, I just read [livejournal.com profile] saerie's joy at this news in her journal AND YES YOU MUST COME AND WE MUST HAVE AN AWESOMETASTIC TIME!!!! And you're more than welcome to stay with me, the only problem is that our place is so tiny you'd have to sleep on the couch or in the bathtub or since it's in August, outside with the raccoons. I would completely understand if you didn't want too though.

In other awesometastic news, the weather people said we'd get about 2-3 cm of new snow last night. Well it just stopped snowing about an hour and half ago. I took this picture this afternoon:

Looks a bit more than 2-3 cm of new snow. More like a foot.
bunnylove: (Jared - :D)
I want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to Jared Padalecki and his now finance Sandy. Jared confirmed the he popped the question! Awwww. :) I kinda figured after seeing that huge rock on her finger when those pictures of them at that basketball game came out.

Honestly our weather is on crack or something. Last night when mum picked me up from work it was snowing. Snowing and as we got up to the higher levels it was really snowing. So much that it was hard to even see 20 feet in front of you while driving. Today it is sunny/cloudy and is cold, but the snow is melting. I WANT IT TO WARM UP! *ducks flying objects from people back east*

Tomorrow night [livejournal.com profile] gremmie_goo and I are going to see Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love talk and going to reception afterwards. I'm really excited about this because I enjoyed her book a lot and to meet the author of it is kinda fun.

New layout over at [livejournal.com profile] bunny_icons. I'm quite pleased with it. :)

Snooooow!

There's about a foot and a half of snow outside and it's still snowing. o.O This will be interesting to get to and from work.

Pine cone

This week has been busy for me. Monday [livejournal.com profile] gremmie_goo and I started our French lessons and holy crap I actually get it! LOL I always had a bad experience with French in high school mainly due to my teachers being stupid and intimidating (well when you're 10 you sure feel like that). So yes, it was a lot of fun and it shall continue to be fun.

Thursday night I started my art class. It's for portfolio development and we're currently doing still life. Last class I drew a pine cone. You would think they would be easy, but they're not. :P We'll continue with pine cones next class and then go on to a bit of life drawing and then next I'm not sure what. Still I had fun and it's relaxing. For homework I have to do a portrait (woo) of someone from life. I guess that would be my mum although she's less than thrilled by the idea. :P But she's the only one I see on a regular basis that I can get this assignment done in time.

Earlier today it was sunny out and snowing, it was gorgeous and all the little birdies were out having a feed.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my last post, it made me feel a bit better. I'm still having a hard time with it, but knowing that I'm not alone makes me feel better.

I'm currently watching Ghost and hoo boy! I always forget how hot Patrick Swayze is in this (but not as hot as in Dirty Dancing *rowr*)
bunnylove: (Default)
Does this mean we're all Russian now? I wasn't all happy with the way 6A was handling things and customer service, so maybe this could be a step in a better direction? Let's hope so.

Tomorrow is the last eppy of Heroes until whenever. *sniff* I don't know if I can handle it and I'm really worried about certain people leaving the cast. *clings all her shows* DON'T LEAVE ME! WHAT WILL I AVOID REALITY WITH????

A couple of weeks ago my Zip.ca subscription sent me Gone With The Wind to watch. Now I admit I've never seen it (just clips) and I finally wanted to sit and watch this after years of my mum bugging me to, so I did. Sorta. I can now say I've seen the first half of GWTW, but not anything after the intermission. Why? BECAUSE THE DVD'S ARE SPLIT IN TWO AND THE DAMN RENTAL SERVICE DIDN'T SEND ME THE SECOND DISC!!!!!!! Bah. Bastards, so now I have to a) send the first disc back and hope the send me the second disc or b) rent the thing or c) buy it. I'm leaning towards buying it because so far what I've watched I've loved. Maybe I can sucker my dad into getting it for me tomorrow.

Tomorrow my dad and I are going shopping for mum and out to lunch. I hope the malls aren't too packed but I guess they shouldn't be bad since it's a weekday and school is still in.

I'm taking Wednesday off work and mum and I are going to go down town to look at some of the big department stores Christmas displays and window shop (although we'll probably buy something, we always do). Then maybe after we'll go see Enchanted. I've heard nothing but positive things about it and I'm really looking forward to it. It would be kinda the perfect mommy daughter thing to do.

The snow is now de-snowing. :( Its warmed up and now everything is turning to slush.

Tinkerbell brought in another bird this morning, but luckily my mum was able to save it. After she grabbed the poor thing and stuck it in the empty drawer she put some seed inside and left it to warm up for a couple of hours. When she opened the drawer the bird was hopping around wondering what the hell was going on. I'm thinking we should put a cowbell on Tinkerbell, that would help the birds know she was around.

I'm currently reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert . I don't normally read these kinds of books, but I'm really loving it and it makes me want to just take off so badly and travel to places and experience life. Sadly there's that little issue of money. Stupid money. Sometimes these books make it seem so easy to go and do that, but when you actually look at your life and try and figure out how to that it just depresses you. LOL

I also finished reading The Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore. Such a good book and so damn funny. It's a great Christmas read (with Zombies and Angels).

[ETA] WTF?! LJ is saying that I have reached my limit of 1000 tags? WTF IS THIS?
bunnylove: (GG - Snow <3)
It snowed all day today! *goes out and rolls in it* Kinda fitting that the first day of December would be our first snow day. <333
bunnylove: (GG - Snow <3)
I went outside to turn on the spotlight on and the air was just so crisp and cold. It's smelled like snow.

I love that smell. *wiggles toes* It also gives me an excuse to use my Lorelai/Snow icon. <333

Some of you remember Sebastian? Well this was Sebastian last night on one of my mum's trunks in her room:

And the best part of this whole situation is that he isn't even my cat. LOL He won't go home. We have to shove him out the door each evening so he'll leave. :P

Look what happened )

I got a B on my Geometry final today! I can now move on from angles and area forever!

It snowed overnight (it actually hasn't stopped) and now it's all pretty and fluffy and white outside. :)
bunnylove: (Supernatural - WTF?!)
It's a freaking blizzard outside. I've seriously haven't seen it snow like this here in years.

I updated my DeviantART with some snow portraits. Check 'em out if DA ever wants to let them show up on my page, but they'll show up here for some reason. *shrug*
