I got my Complete Sherlock Holmes books today in the mail! I'm nerdtastically excited about them. They're two volumes and they're for students (so they were super cheap), so they have footnotes and glossaries and stuff with all of it and I am maybe a bit too excited about all this. YAY 4 LERNINGZ!!!

I went a picked up a second hand copy of Hound of the Baskervilles after I saw the movie. I always knew who the character Sherlock Holmes was, but never read any of the books, so when I saw the movie and fell in love with it, I was all 'MUST READ BOOKS!' I finished HoB and LOVED it. It's now, I think, in my top 10 favourite books now. :D


When I got to the part where Watson discovers that Holmes has been camping out on the moor I could totally picture Jude!Watson just laying into RDJ!Holmes and maybe throwing him a punch (like he did in the movie). I just got that sudden mental image when I read that bit and couldn't stop giggling like the insane person that I am.

Um, there was more I was going to say I think, but dinner is beeping at me and I'm hungry.

Oh gosh HotB is my all time favourite story too. It was the first one I ever read. I don't even remember now what made me love it more than the others, but I always have.

And that scene, oh god it would be priceless, really really priceless *GRIN*

Oh, man I can totally picture Jude!Watson's grumpy face while he's going on to Holmes about it all and RDJ!Holmes just all 'la la la...'.

I remember having to read Hound of the Baskervilles in like 8th grade or something. I remember being terribly bored with it, and when I try to recall any sort of details of it, I get it mixed up from the time we had to watch 'the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes' in the same class, where they're in Scotland, launching submarines from the ruins of a castle that I actually saw when I was in Scotland, so I don't really remember a damn thing.

(Sort of like how when I saw the first two Star Wars movies when I was 6 or 7, I thought A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back were just one movie. Luke gets stuck in a garbage disposal and then gets his arm cut off. Same movie. Duh.)

LOL I know what you mean. I also did that with Star Wars, getting confused as to which movie was which. I think I got ESB mixed up with RofJ. I kept thinking that Luke got his hand cut off in Jedi and got the Ewoks all mixed up ect.

I'm glad you like HoB! I love that book. And I think I have the books you're talking about. I'm glad you're inspired to read the stories - they're really classic.
