Happy Birthday to me!!!

bunnyloveI turned 27 today, which I cannot quite comprehend. I don't feel 27 at all. My dad got me a ticket to see Wicked, which I am totally stoked about. I've been wanting to see it since it came out in New York and since they're here all month it's the one thing I wanted for my birthday. He couldn't afford 2 tickets, so I'm going by myself, but it should still be good. Mum got me some nail polish and a Fluttershy.
It was a good birthday even though some plans got pushed aside and changed, so overall I'm happy.

Wicked and I have had such an unpleasant falling out over the past couple of years (I fight with fictional works of art, this is totally normal) - and then reading this, as weird as it sounds, made me feel such a surge of love towards it because I'm so happy you're going to get to go. And because it's actually incredible onstage. I just know you'll have a fantastic time, and I'm feeling very excited vicariously for you. Unlimited. Together we're unlimited. Together we'll be the greatest team there's ever been. <3333

If I win the lotto in the next few days I am flying you and I to NY to go see it. :D It's one of the few theatre productions that I've wanted to see from the get go. I got to see Spamalot a couple of years ago and now this. I also heard that Mama Mia is coming back and I want to see that, but I probably won't get a chance (unless I be bad and use some school money).
BTW, do you have the original pic of the birthday banner you made me? Cuz I want to icon that and it'll remind me of you.

Date: 2011-06-17 06:31 am (UTC)LOL I do. I fight with them, they beat me up, I yell at them, and sometimes I go crawling back and am like, "I'M SORRY, BABY, I DIDN'T MEAN TO LEAVE YOU." (This actually happened with RENT, as well - I've struggled with it a lot because it's tied so closely in my memory to Chris and I had to step back and divorce myself from it before letting it in again. I literally only recently listened to it again and was a crying mess afterward. I DIIIEEEE WITHOUUUT YOUUUUU. Sometimes, you have to heal and redefine things.) ANYWAY, with Wicked, I feel bad because it's kind of a hipster reason - it got so freaking popular (pop-u-laaar) that I just couldn't stand it anymore (and it also reminds me vividly of an ex-friend). But mostly it was the fanbase that killed it for me, because they are batshit. It's like the SPN fandom on a REALLY BAD day. It was an odd case in that it was a slow build, too - that show has been open since 2003 and a part of my life since 2004, but it took several years for the true insanity to seep in (I guess that kind of happened with SPN fandom, too, come to think of it). And I couldn't escape from it, the stans were everywhere in anything Bway related, shaking and crying over how nothing can ever compare to it, and omg Lea Michele's character on Glee has it has her ringtoooone!!1!! -_- It's a lovely, sweet show and has some truly beautiful moments in it, but it's also really derivative at times and Stephen Schwartz tends to be a dick about it if anyone criticizes any of his choices. So I feel guilty about it because it's really not the show's fault, it was the fandom and the atmosphere around it that got quite toxic for a while. It's died down a lot now and I've taken a LOT of time away from that show, so eventually I'll probably reconcile with it and it will bring me joy. Honestly, just reading that you're going already is making me feel that, I wish I could go with you so badly. THE STAGING WILL BLOW YOU AWAY. THE SETS AND EVERYTHING ARE SO FUCKING GORGEOUS. It's absolutely a production that is much better seen than merely listened to.

Just seeing the sets from ads and on Glee always blow me away, so I can't wait to see it all live. I love the soundtrack and always have it playing at some point.

I'm bummed because Mama Mia is here for only 1 week in August. My aunt has seen it twice and told me to see it if I ever had a chance. Have you seen the film? It's quite good as well even though the seriously miscast that part of Pierce Brosnan (such bad singing).

I've never seen the movie version of Mamma Mia, either, surprisingly. There are quite a few film musicals I've missed the past few years (Hairspray, Nine...I think some other one? hmmm), actually. :c I freaking love Pierce Brosnan but I cannot believe that man would do a musical. Whyyyy.
