Jackson almost killed Eowyn. Well he didn't see her, but she was only 3 feet away from him. Thank god Dad tackled Jack before he noticed. I don't want to lose another kitty to this dog.
I read that and thought you were talking about Peter Jackson and Eowyn of LOTR! I was like, "Oh, if he'd have done that, I would've really flown to New Zealand or wherever the hell he is and kicked his ass."
Yeah, Malamutes and a lot of other bigger breeds are/can be like that. It depends on the dog I guess. We've only met one Malamute that was friendly with cats in the past 10 years.
So how do you usually deal with having both an alaskan malamute and two cats? (Is that right, two cats?) Do you not let Jackson see the cats at all? I want to get an alaskan malamute, except that I already have a cat so I'm worried about how they would get on.
They actually live apart. My dad has the dog and mum has the cats. :)
Your best bet is to get a puppy malamute or one that is fairly young, then you can train 'em to be happy with cats. That's what one owner did, they brought the puppy in and they haven't had any trouble with their malamute and their cats.
