I love my country I really do, I'm proud to be a Canadian and feel so blessed that I live in this part of the world. I love that we're a bilingual country and can celebrate diversity.
I made a call to my banks hotline or whatever to ask one simple question and it took me 17 minutes on the phone to hang up. I only spent about 3 minutes on hold.
Tonight as I was on the phone with my bank I got a very nice gentleman with a VERY thick french accent. I understood the answer to my question I originally phoned for, but in the process after we solved my little problem I think I've:
- raised my credit limit to $10,000
- opened up some sort of bond, line of credit or 'emergency cash' worth $1500. I dunno, I heard $1500 and if I need to use it I only pay a $5 fee and if I don't touch that money I don't pay anything.
- opened a savings account with automatic payments into every month.
- agreed to a lifetime membership to the Jelly of the Month club.
Ok, that last one I made up.
I just kept saying yes, obviously. LMAO! I did want to open a savings account, so that's good, I've just been too lazy to do it. Tomorrow or whenever the changes in my credit happen I'm going to go back down to my much lower limit. $10,000 is just too much and I know that if anything happens I won't be able to keep up with that amount and how much the minimum payments are. I also don't want to have to end up owing my dad over $3000 like last time. And I also want to see what the hell this $1500 emergency thingy is.
It's been a long day, so I guess my brain is a little fried. I kept doodling on a piece of paper while he talked to me and I just kept saying 'yes, ok, right' at every pause. :P Still he was a nice guy and pronounced my last name right, people don't do that very often.
