They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on...

Oh hay thar Christmas! I've been noticing on several friends entries on LJ and on Tumblr that it just doesn't feel like Christmas this year. I don't know why, but I don't feel it as well. Maybe it's because I have no money and no one is getting anything from me this year. Usually I'd go out and get some small things and then spend the night wrapping, but I haven't had that, so I think that's part of what's missing. Not the actual material aspect of it, but once I do that I just get into the mindset of it all. Or it could be that since my family is broke we can't do much of anything tomorrow except to be together; which I am fine with. Christmas is really about being together and sharing it with the ones you love. We hear this cliché all the time, but it's true. Even if you may not be able to spend it with all your loved ones I hope that it can still be a good one. If I was in the power to grant everyone their Christmas wish I would in a heartbeat. Even we're close or don't talk much any more you are no less special to me.

Even if you skip all the stuff I wrote above, please have a safe and Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa or whatever you may or may not celebrate. All my love to you all.

9th year and counting!

[livejournal.com profile] antiquitea (HAPPY AVENGERMAS!) and [livejournal.com profile] gossy16, your cards arrived just in time today! Thank you both so much! They are now with the others beside our little tree. :)

Even though I don't have a lot going for my actual Christmas plans it suddenly hit me how much I actually have to do (meaning housework). Time to vacuum! Which the cats hate, but I get a kick seeing them freak out about it because I'm a horrible person. :P

Thank you!

It looks like the postal service decided to hoard things and give them to me all today. [livejournal.com profile] boromirslover, [livejournal.com profile] bandgeek01, [livejournal.com profile] cenedrawood, and [livejournal.com profile] lallyloo, I got all your cards today! Thank you all so much! I put them around the tree where Tinkerbell promptly knocked them all down and then I'll put them back up and well, you know, circle of misery ect.

Did anyone watch the finale of Terra Nova tonight? I got a big LOST vibe at the ending there.

I also watched the first part of Neverland tonight and enjoyed it. Not the greatest of the Peter Pan lore, but I like the idea of how everything got started and how Peter became Peter Pan.

I have five days of school left. In the past two weeks alone I have had eight final projects due and this last week I have three. I can tell you that it hasn't been easy, but I'm happy I can see an end to it all. I haven't had any time to really get into Christmas, so I feel a bit detached from it all. Hopefully that'll change at the end of the week. Also based on all my marks I've gotten for projects I doubt I'll pull anything lower than a B in all my classes. I'm not too horribly concerned about grades and such because once I grad in 2014 the overall grades won't matter too too much, but it's still nice to keep them high for scholarships considerations.

Having all this school work means that I've fallen behind on some TV, but I've managed to catch up on a couple of things.

Ho-Ho-Ho

STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. Once a wish has been granted, it will be crossed off my list.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

MY LIST

1. Sleeeeeeeeep. Need sleeeeeeeeeep.
2. A donation to the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, this is the organization that I volunteer for and where I got Cleo; OR a donation to your local animal shelter/SPCA. Any amount or if you prefer to donate food/toys that's fine as well, you don't have to say it's in my name or anything like that.
3. If you have the means and really want to, go adopt a pet in need of a new forever home. Make a pet happy for the holidays.
4. Anything and everything from my Amazon wish list.
5. A dinosaur, preferably a fuzzy one.
6. Michael Fassbender under my tree.
7. James McAvoy under my tree.
8. RDJ under my tree.
9. A vacation to some place awesome with all my friends.
10. For my friends and family to be happy and healthy for another year.

If you want my home address PM me or comment asking for it. Also if you have a list like this, comment and link me to it and maybe I'd be able to grant you one of the wishes. I have absolutely 0 spare cash to spend on anyone this year, so I can't send out Christmas cards again, but if you want to leave me your email address (or PM me) I'd be more than willing to send you an e-card.

In response to last nights episode )

In other news: I bought some Christmas window clings at the dollar store and I'm going to put them up next to my desk on Monday.
