its a book quote but i don't care :p

Gil-galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
the last whose realm was fair and free
between the Mountains and the Sea."
"But long ago he rode away,
and where he dwelleth none can say;
for into darkness fell his star
in Mordor where the shadows are."

.. there's something terribly painfully poignant about it.

I couldn't fit some of the quotes on the poll. I tried to stick to one liners, but I have one non-one-liner. ;D Although many of my quotes are conversations and then a punchline.

LOTR ::
LEGOLAS: "Crebain from Dunland!"
ARAGORN: "HIDE!"
(it's the delivery that makes it great. XD)

FIREFLY ::
JAYNE: "Dear diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

POTC ::
JACK: "But why's the rum gone?"

NCIS ::
TONY: "You can't drown in a stream. You can get wet. You can be frickin' freezing, but you can't DROWN!!"

GREY'S ANATOMY ::
ADDISON: "Actually, I prefer to be called Ruler of All That Is Evil. But I will answer to Satan."

SUPERNATURAL ::
DEAN :: "I'll pass. I usually draw the line at nechrophilia."

FAVORITE QUOTE ::
"I reject your reality and substitute my own" -- MythBusters

Yep. Stuck to the one-liners. ;D But I love so so so so so many quotes. Especially in "NCIS" and "Firefly"... it's so hard to choose.

since quotes dont fit:

LOTR: Legolas- would you like me to describe it for you...or would you like me to find you a box?

POTC: Jack- Elizabeth, those male clothes dont suit you at all. its either a dress or nothing. and i happen to not have a dress in my cabin (from potc2)

LOST: Make mine EXTRA CREAMY- Charlie

Grey's Anatomy: Are you Going to stand there and make methaphors or are you literally going to take off your pants?- izzy

Favorite Quote(s):
1.I think there has to be a door between where you cook and where you crap. tribal people are like that, they have a place for both- Sam, Life As A House
2.Hey baby, how would you like to go black and then make the difficult decision regarding whether or not to go back?- Cleveland, Family Guy

i got more...but that would take up all your comment space.

Ooh, I like this quiz. A couple of things I wanted to add.

Another favorite POTC quote:

"You cheated!"
"Pirate..." Like that's supposed to explain everything in the world.

Also my favorite "other" quotes:

"What kind of coo-coo brain carries a cactus in her purse?" -Brad Pitt in Kalifornia
"Cuz I like...wind...Brian..." - Juliette Lewis in Kalifornia

"How sexy am I now, fucker?!" - Juliette Lewis, after killing a guy who leered at her in Natural Born Killers

"You're just a fast-food knight." - Peter Saarsgard, Garden State

There are so many in each of these movies that I could go on and on for days. They're just highly quotable films.

And if I may add one from TV:

Michael Scott (Reading an employee complaint): "Why is the bathroom whites only?" (Looks at the only black man in the office) "Stanley, the bathroom is not whites only."
Creed (The oldest white guy in the office): "Then why is there a white man on the door?"
Pan to the this:

And that? Is why The Office is the best show that ever existed.

And now I'll shut up because I've written you a novel and now I feel like a dick.

There seem to be a lot of good shows I've yet to see. For the few I did give quotes for, I just gave the first one to come to mind. (I see my mind works differently from most where PotC is concerned. Maybe 'cause I drink Cider? :p )

The Pirate Movie (that I took my "favorite quote" from) has been on my mind a lot lately - and I just happened to stumble across it at Target earlier today! Squeeee! (There's a commentary and everything!) So I was hoping you could answer a question for me...

I know you're an expert at computer graphics - do you know of a fairly simple screen capture program that is also very cheap (if not free)? (I'll be doing a google search too, but I know my lack of knowledge will make this an uphill battle.) Thanks in advance for any advice. :D

Since it didn't fit in the "other" category's box

"My diet is I eat whatever i want for 9 weeks, work out like crazy for 9 weeks, then eat nothing but chocolate cake. I call it the 9+9+Chocolate cake diet." -Dominic Monaghan

It didn't fit in the box.

LOTR: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All you have to decide is what to do with teh time that is given to you" by Gandalf.

Fave Quote:
"Only the dead have seen the end of war" (PLATO)

"Education costs money but so does ignorance" (Sir Claus Moser)

The others are N/A.

First, there are about a million quotes that I love to pieces. And 500,000 of them are probably from LOTR. There are also bunches more that I adore from POTC and Lost...and Supernatural. So, I had to settle with what first came to me. :D Also, I have huge quote lists from HP and SW. And musicals, plays, novels... I am a quote collector.

Serenity ~
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Malcolm: Define "interesting".
Wash: Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die?

Another quote I love: "Always shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." ~ Les Brown

From the Aragorn/Arwen appendix in LOTR:

And Arwen said: “Dark is the Shadow, and yet my heart rejoices for you…shall be among the great whose valour will destroy it.”
And Aragorn answered: “Alas! I cannot foresee it, and how it may come to pass is hidden from me. Yet with your hope I will hope.”

Arwen: I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone. I choose a mortal life.
Aragorn: You cannot give me this.
Arwen: It is mine to give to whom I will. Like my heart.

Catherine from Wuthering Heights , about Heathcliff: He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same, and Linton's is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire.

She missed him the days when some pretext served to take him away from her, just as one misses the sun on a cloudy day without having thought much about the sun when it was shining. ~ The Awakening, Kate Chopin

From Les Miserables by Victor Hugo:

If no one loved, the sun would go out.

Love has no middle term; either it destroys, or it saves.

Narration from the Revenge of the Sith novel:

The dark is generous and it is patient, and it always wins. Yet in the heart of its strength lies weakness. One lone candle is enough to hold it back. Love is more than a candle. Love can ignite the stars.

One more!

Sorry this turned into Jess's quotes of d00m! But I did forget one...

A dreamer is someone who can only find his way by moonlight and whose only punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. ~ Oscar Wilde

My LOTR, POTC and fave quotes wouldn't fit...so:

LOTR: The fires of Isengard will spread, and the forests of Tuckborough and Buckland will burn. And all that was once great and good in this world will be gone. There won't be a Shire, Pippin.

POTC: She's safe, just like I promised. She's all set to marry Norrington, just like she promised. And you get to die for her, just like you promised. So we're all men of our word really... except for, of course, Elizabeth, who is in fact, a woman.

South Park:
Eric Cartman: You seem a little irritable Kyle. You got some sand in your vagina?
Kyle: THERE'S NO SAND IN MY VAGINA!
